Not that this has anything to do with the Ohana Favorites. But here it is!! Go Team 5-0!!!

I'm amazed to see how many women are winning hands down in most fandoms. I'm into fandom for the hot guys myself, so I only voted for a few women, but what's with that? I suppose we're supposed to want to be like them or something. I know, I'm bad; all I can think is, 'Steve's way hotter than Kono' no matter how cool she is (and I do thinks she's cool), so he gets my vote. Sadly true, I feed the male majority of stars with my votes, not to mention my TV watching. ;-P

I had the exact same reaction!!! Is it the wild fan-boys voting for all the girls? I always think of LJ fandom as female dominated. And it's not that I don't think Kono is WOW because she is. But seriously? For her to be that far ahead of Steve?

And I love Community!! But, really, Britta is way ahead of everyone but Abed? Does that sound right? I would expect Jeff or Dean Pelton or Troy to be after Abed. Not Britta.

Since I don't watch TV (except for, you know, McGoo and Muscles) I didn't vote in most of the categories. But the way the women are far and ahead of everyone else seems suspect to me.
a geek in such the wrong way: slash-inveteratehaldoor on March 7th, 2012 02:23 am (UTC)
I actually think it's a lot of women voting *shrug* but couldn't be certain. I think many women are in awe of the people they'd like to be and so they vote for the characters they empathise with or would like to be like! Slashers may be a whole other kettle of fish... or at least I seem to be on the outer with that one!

Im with you on Community - I prefer oh God, hopeless with names, the black woman, and shit, even more hopeless, the dark-haired girl who seems so innocent, to Britta. But yeah, Troy is second to Abed for me, and then the Spanish teacher, the Chinese one. Jeez, how do I even watch these shows when I don't know names!

I don't watch many of those shows either, but then we don't get many of them. It's too hard to wach everything anyway; you'd have to not have a RL!!! (not that I do, but...) ;-P

Ha ha, if I remember correctly it goes back to the fact that a few years back Dean Winchester was winning this thing several years in a row and everyone was like, 'well, that's boring and the women are way more BAMF anyway' :D

It's actually a good thing if you don't have a prefence/care in many shows. You can trade your vote in those categories for a vote for H50 in return ^_~

And I just love the campaigning, so much fun.

Wait, you can trade votes? How do you do that? I'd totally vote Steve in an upwards direction if I knew how.

Campaigning? That's the comments, yeah? I looked at page one, though I didn't read all the comments, but the gifs were fun.
Are 6 dogs too many?: enterprisetkeylasunset on March 7th, 2012 02:48 am (UTC)
Is that what the comments were for? I saw there were over 1000 of them and ran away. Maybe not a 1000 but a bunch.

They seemed awfully determined to prevent ballot stuffing. I guess that's been a problem in the past.

Still, weirdness.

Desi: Not Deandeedo_2313 on March 7th, 2012 02:55 am (UTC)
Yes, that's the purpose of the coments :D I think they're close to 3k by now... that's actually pretty tame, but prelims are open longer than the other rounds.

Yeah it was, some people were creating tons of journals just to get their votes up :(

But trading votes is actually expected and encouraged :D
Desi: Not Deandeedo_2313 on March 7th, 2012 03:02 am (UTC)
Well, you just write a comment saying that you don't really care about this and this category and offer to trade anyone your vote for their preferred character in turn for them voting for yours. If you have already voted you can click on the poll number and then on 'fill out poll' and change your vote.

Don't get me wrong, I totally love Steve, but this needs a bit more tactical long term planning. Last year H50 was up against Bones in the first round and tbh I don't know how good his chances will be against her if it's the same bracket this year... (well and last year I was kinda cheering when Bones won against Kono, but I didn't even know what H50 was then :)

Oh God, already too complicated *brain explodes* I think I'll just watch. But thanks for explaining! ;-)

It's weirdness really. And in the words of one of my favorite (though not most popular) Bill Murray movies "It just doesn't matter."

I really need to rent/borrow/steal some episodes of Supernatural. NOT that I don't know what goes on. But I feel like I've missed out on this huge cultural phenomenon by never seeing it.

So many fandoms. So little time!

Community - Jackie is the black woman, Annie is the dark haired girl, Mr Chang is the Spanish Teacher. Yeah - I completely forgot about Mr. Chang!!!

You may be right. I would have still thought the Yummy Boys would be ahead. Who can say for sure?

No, I don't have RL either. I just don't watch TV in the RL I don't have.
a geek in such the wrong way: B&S-who are those guys?haldoor on March 7th, 2012 02:47 am (UTC)
Jackie? Really? I totally get Annie and Mr Chang (I know they're right as soon as I see them) but Jackie doesn't feel right *scratches head*. Weird.

HAHA, you and me both with the RL we don't have. I probably spend more time online these days, but I probably watch too much TV all the same.

OMG Shirley.

I'm so sorry, Shirley!!

OF COURSE! I so knew that. *hits self over head with lack-of-memory-stick*

This is a freakin' train wreck!!! I can't look away! OMG.

I don't even watch these shows but - oh - the drama!!!! Wow.

Why do people care so much who wins? It's not like it will ensure the show stays on. Right? I mean, The West Wing (which I loved!!) hasn't been on in, what, 4 years?

What a study in the human experience!!!!

There is a reason it is called Fandom Steel Cage Match March MADNESS :D

Best time of the year ever ^o^

To be honest, people like that amuse me. Way to take things too seriously all the time. What does it matter whether the outcome of this livejournal poll has or will ever have any importance. Not everything needs to have a purpose or importance.

And to read through all the comments only to then tell people how ridiculous they are. Well...

a geek in such the wrong way: young ones-everyone listenhaldoor on March 7th, 2012 05:12 am (UTC)
It's hilarious, in all ways. People who pretend not to care but actually do care are as funny as the ones who get angry that they don't care.

Wait, does that even make sense?

I'm amused anyway. Fandom rocks!
Are 6 dogs too many?: Danno Srslytkeylasunset on March 7th, 2012 05:20 am (UTC)
It does make sense! And you're right -it does rock. In a confusing "other-worldly" way.
